Dr. Mahmud-ur-Rehman is a prominent figure in Bangladeshi political life with notable achievements in various fields. He is one of the owners and acting editors of the Bengali daily Amar Desh. Apart from journalism, Rehman has a background in engineering and business that allowed him to serve as the executive chairman of the National Board of Investment in the early 2000s and later became the national energy advisor of Bangladesh. Since 2008, he has been a vocal critic of the government through his newspaper, which led to numerous defamation and sedition cases being filed against him, which were judicially harassed by international human rights groups. Rehman is the author of several books in Bangla and English, the latest of which is “A Political History of Muslim Bengal: An Unfinished Battle of Faith”.
